ABSTRACT

Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal, desde julio hasta diciembre de 2015, de los 63 adultos mayores con anemia pertenecientes al consultorio médico No. 24, del Policlínico Docente Luis Augusto Turcios Lima para caracterizarles según algunas variables de interés para la investigación. En la serie predominaron las féminas de 60-69 años (25,5 por ciento), la fatiga como síntoma principal, la anemia microcítica según el estudio de la lámina periférica, así como la anemia asociada a trastornos crónicos. A modo de conclusión, resulta válido destacar que el diagnóstico de los trastornos menstruales en la perimenopausia puede prevenir la anemia y reducir su aparición en el sexo femenino; asimismo, se debe incrementar el estudio del tipo de anemia en el adulto mayor para poder accionar ante el fenómeno del envejecimiento en América Latina y estudiar preventivamente a este grupo poblacional para diagnosticar afecciones crónicas e indicar tratamiento oportunamente


An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study of the 63 elderly with anemia, belonging to No. 24 family doctor's office, of Luis Augusto Turcios Lima Teaching Polyclinic was carried out from July to December, 2015, to characterize them according to some variables of interest for the investigation. In the series there was a prevalence of women aged 60-69 (25.5 percent), fatigue as main symptom, microcitic anemia according to the study of the peripheric sheet, as well as the anemia associated to chronic dysfunctions. As a conclusion, it is valid to highlight that the diagnosis of the menstrual dysfunctions in the perimenopausia can prevent anemia and reduce its emergence in the female sex; also, the study of the type of anemia should be increased in the aged adult to be able to face the phenomenon of the aging in Latin America and to study preventively this populational group to diagnose chronic affections and to indicate treatment appropriately
